Marriage not important for Eva Mendes

Although the "Last Night" actress has been dating Peruvian filmmaker George Augusto for almost a decade, she has never felt the need to walk down the aisle, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"I just don't think marriage is necessary, as necessary as society makes it. And I don't have a negative point of view on it. I just think it's a very old tradition and if you look back to what marriage symbolises in the first place ... it has nothing to do with why we get married today," she said.
The 37-year-old beauty also revealed she feels no pressure to become a mother.
"I don't know if I want children, but the idea of marriage sounds very boring to me. I have to be honest," she said.

Eva Mendes wanted to be a nun

Mendes wanted to join a convent and devote her life to the Catholic Church when she was a child but changed her mind, reports contactmusic.com.
"We didn't grow up with a lot of money so I would always tell my mom, 'Mommy I am going to buy you a big house when I grow up, and a car'," she said.
"And my sister said to me one day when I was 10, 'How are you going to buy mom all these things? You are going to be a nun and nuns don't get paid. I said, 'What?' and that was it, my convent dreams were over," she added.
After finding success and fame as an actress, the 36-year-old admits it was a very "proud moment" when she was able to make good on her promise to buy her mother a new home in 2002.

Eva Mendes: 'I Didn't Mind Stripping in The Spirit'

The actress, 34 - who plays Sand Saref in director Frank Miller's new film noir - insists walking around in the buff wasn't an issue because she was playing her dream character.
Eva explains, "She's so kick-ass in every way. She's such a smart dame, that part of her sexuality, part of getting what she wants, is turning up the sex. So yeah, I had no problem with taking my clothes off for this role."
The Spirit - which also stars Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson - was released in December 2008.

Eva Mendes Blasts "Sexist" Hollywood

The We Own the Night actress, 34, believes the American film industry is sexist - because male actors never have to deal with rumors of feuding with same-sex co-stars.
Eva - who stars alongside Scarlett Johansson, Jaime King and Paz Vega in Frank Miller's avant-garde film noir The Spirit - insists there was no tension amongst the cast while filming, and is bored of rumors suggesting otherwise.
She explains, "I know how people like to believe that, but it's a very sexist way of thinking. Nobody ever asks that when men work together in an ensemble cast. I've been in the business 10 years and I've never had a negative situation with another actress - ever."

'Spirit' star Eva Mendes talks about nudity, Scarlett Johannson & Jennifer Lopez

In an interview with Moviefone, she says Scarlett Johannson is sweet, maternal and amazingly sexy. She reveals that she finds nudity beauriful and tasteful — but only on a natural body. And she thanks Jennifer Lopez for breaking stereotypes about Latino women and opening a lot of doors.
Here are some excerpts from the interview:
About working with Scarlett Johannson:
She's very sweet, and she's very maternal. And of course, she has this amazing look of just being completely, not only beautiful, but extremely, extremely sexy. She just oozes sexuality. Yet there is such a maternal quality in her that is so beautiful that I think people would be kind of surprised and impressed by. And she's smart, but I think you can tell that she's smart. She's a smart cookie.
About that Calvin Klein ad and nudity in general:
I think we're a bit conservative when it comes to nudity and sexuality. And it's so funny because I'd much rather see a beautiful nude of a woman than see these girls with these Triple-D fake boobs in a bikini. To me, that's more vulgar than seeing a beautiful nude of a natural body. ... I'm not against fake breasts at all; I'm not against augmentation. But I think when you get to that point of vulgarity where it's not in proportion, that's more vulgar to me than a beautiful nude.
On nudity in films:
If I'm going to be emotionally naked, sometimes a script will call for me to be physically naked as well. I would never frown upon it. And I think in Hollywood some actresses do frown upon it. They say it like an honor: "I would never do nudity!" And it's like, oh come on! I'm an actress, you know, I'll do what it takes to make my part as honest as it can be.
On Latinos being underrepresented in Hollywood (and how Jennifer Lopez is helping to change that):
When I started in the business 10 years ago, it was pretty pathetic as far as every time I went out for a role in an audition, they really did ask me to do it with a Spanish accent. And I did because I needed work and I was starting out. And there were hardly any roles. But I think I've seen so much progress in the last 10 years... in the last 5 years. ... I have to thank people like Jennifer Lopez, who is definitely a beautiful Latin woman, but she's American. I think she was a pioneer as far as breaking down those stereotypical walls, and I think it's getting better and better as far as the quality roles, absolutely. Now I just need to see more Asian people being represented.

Eva Mendes' breast modesty

'The Women' actress - who has been dating filmmaker George Gargurevich since 2002 - admits she prefers to keep her ample chest under wraps.
She is quoted as saying: "I don't wear short things. As for cleavage, I'll bring the girls out at certain times but I don't parade them too often. I like to keep them for special occasions!"
Eva, 34, recently revealed she loves wearing high heels, but never buys heels above 5ins because she finds it so difficult to move around.
She said: "I absolutely love shoes. I can never have too many pairs. I especially love ones with huge stiletto heels - but it's always a circus act when I walk in them. I am all over the place."
Eva can next been seen in revolutionary animated movie 'The Spirit', in which she stars alongside Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson.

Eva Mendes had a crush on Kate Moss

I and my girlfriends grew up wanting to be Kate Moss; so now to be the face and body of the new CK range is great.” Eva also revealed her fashion choices are influenced by her music tastes, and says her favourite band is Oasis – fronted by Liam Gallagher. She added in an interview on Channel 4 TV show Frock Me: “My music taste has probably influenced what I wear but more on a subconscious level.
I’m actually a big music fan and a lot of my favourite bands came from Manchester. I’m a big Oasis girl, I love The Charlatans and Morrissey of course. I did wear a flower in my pocket for a while a Morrissey tribute.”

Eva Mendes: I hate comparison to Jennifer Lopez

The We Own The Night star, who recently fronted a sexy advertising campaign for Calvin Klein, is quoted as saying recently: “I would like to think I will have a more serious career than [Jennifer].
“We may both be of Latin origin but that’s where the comparisons stop.
“She manages her career like the head of a big corporation, whereas the only thing I care about is becoming the best actress possible.”

Eva Mendes 'loves' sex symbol status

The star told the Spanish edition of Vogue that she enjoys being considered a siren, so long as it does not get in the way of her movie work.
"I love it ... But it's not important to me to always be thought of as sexy. I like it when it doesn't limit my career. It's a part of my life, but on a secondary plane," she said.
She added that she attempts to keep her body in good condition by keeping an eye on what she eats.
"I try not to go crazy, but yes, I pay attention to what I eat ... I try to stay away from pasta, bread, cakes, sweets, cookies and ice cream," Mendes said.
Last month, the star bemoaned the number of parts available for actresses in Hollywood.
"There is a lack of roles out there for females," she told the Evening Standard.

Eva Mendes, nude Calvin Klein Ad Banned Over Nipple/Video

Of course, that's exactly what the marketing guys at Calvin Klein were going for, because how else do you get people to notice your crappy new expensive perfume than by causing a bit of Controversy. WWD has a response from a Calvin Klein rep that pretty much admits it.
"This development is not entirely a surprise for the U.S. market," said Tom Murry, president and chief operating officer of Calvin Klein Inc.
"We believe the commercial is exceptional and hits the mark for Secret Obsession. We will reach our consumers in the U.S. primarily through the Web site, the print campaign and at point of sale. We are anticipating a very successful global launch."
Whatever. The only thing that matters is that Eva Mendes is naked, and we get to see her nipples. Everything else is besides the point.

Eva Mendes is red, blue and sex all over

At the launch party for designer Patricia Field’s upcoming line of “Sex and The City” inspired fashions during New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, the star announced that she has “had sex in all 50 states.”
“A lot of it was on a road trip I took when I was younger,” Mendes elaborated, tattling that the best sex took place in Arizona and Colorado. “Maybe it was the clear air or the quiet or the endless sky,” she noted. “Whatever it was, it was really, really good.”
The worst for Mendes? Alaska. “I’d really like a do-over on that state,” she said before suggesting publicists at Alaska Air “sponsor a trip for me there for that purpose.”
We’re sure there would be a lot of takers to help her with her “do-over.”

Eva Mendes proud of nipple shot

The Hollywood star, who was in Sydney today to launch the 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty event, has been causing a stir over the Calvin Klein perfume ads.
"It makes me more proud," Mendes said, referring to the ban on the ad.
The Ghost Rider star has done a number of nude shoots over the years, but said she was not worried the latest would overshadow her acting career.
"I'm sure if it was for some kind of independent brand that wasn't as iconic as Calvin Klein I don't think I would have done it because that's too much of a risk," Mendes said.
"But when its Calvin Klein and it's (fashion photographer) Steve Meisel shooting you and you get to be a part of this amazing iconic brand and their legacy you just kind of go for it."
The ad, which shows Mendes rolling around in a bed with a sheet wrapped around her, has been banned in the US, UK and Australia.
Mendes said Americans were too uptight about nudity when they were happy enough to have so much violence in movies.
Wearing a black dress by Hong Kong designer John Rocha and skyhigh Yves Saint Laurent patent purple heels, Mendes praised "easygoing" Australians and said she loved Australian designers like Willow, Collette Dinnigan and Sass and Bide.
"I love comfort and ease. I think you Aussies are great at that," she said.
"I just love casual chic."
Mendes admitted she didn't like to shop and thought it was fine to wear a dress to an event twice.
"I hate to shop," she said.
"I like to walk by the store and have something catch my eye and then go in. But I don't like to do the whole hour long ... I'm not a girl girl in that way."
Mendes will hit the red carpet tomorrow night in Sydney as an ambassador at the launch of the the ACP Magazines festival, which will see a number of fashion and beauty events over the next month.
